Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this excellent early start to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.
Pregame Key Moments
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Action
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
