Alleged Harasser Inquired: 'Yet Imagine I Am Madeleine?'
A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann apparently recorded her a phone message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has repeatedly asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and evidence obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over that period.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most covered investigations and is still unsolved.
'I Do Not Need Money'
Another voicemail, shared in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I know."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? What happens next? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.
The jury was told that via emails, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, sent early photographs to her phone in a attempt to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an investigator with the police force who collated the evidence, advised the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my position."
The court was informed the co-defendant developed a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in the county in December 2024.
